6 Days Migration River Crossing

The 6-day Migration Safari in Tanzania offers an incredible opportunity to witness one of the world's most magnificent natural spectacles, the Great Wildebeest Migration. The itinerary begins with a visit to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant population and stunning baobab trees. From there, the safari continues to Serengeti National Park, where the majority of the migration takes place.

The Central Serengeti is the next stop, offering a chance to see predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action. Then, the journey proceeds to Kogatende, located in the northern region of Serengeti, which is the best location to witness the river crossing of the wildebeests and zebras. This is one of the most spectacular events in the entire migration, as thousands of animals attempt to cross the Mara River while facing dangerous predators such as crocodiles and lions.

Overall, the 6-day Migration Safari in Tanzania is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the raw power and beauty of nature, with the added benefit of exploring some of Tanzania's most stunning national parks and meeting the local Maasai people. Day 2: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for the Serengeti National Park, which is known worldwide for its incredible wildlife sightings and beautiful landscapes. On the way, you will stop at the Olduvai Gorge Museum, where you can learn about the history of the area and the evolution of early humans. After lunch, you will embark on an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti, where you can see a wide range of wildlife, such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many more.

Oldupai Gorge Museum: Visiting the Olduvai Gorge Museum is a fascinating experience that takes you on a journey through the history of human evolution. You will learn about the discovery of early human fossils, see replicas of tools and artifacts, and gain a deeper understanding of our evolutionary story. The stunning views of the gorge and surrounding landscapes only add to the overall experience.

Maasai boma visit: Visiting a Maasai boma is a unique cultural experience where you can learn about the traditions and customs of the Maasai people. You'll get a chance to see their homes, interact with the locals, and even participate in their daily activities. It's a fascinating opportunity to gain insight into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

Both of the above activities attract an additional cost. Speak with your safari expert about adding them to your itinerary.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park - Northern

Today you will travel to Kogatende, located in the northern part of the Serengeti. This area is known for its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, including predators such as lions and cheetahs. You will have the opportunity to see more of the Great Migration, as well as other wildlife such as elephants, buffalos, and giraffes.

Kogatende is a unique location for the Great Migration because it is where the wildebeest and zebra herds cross the Mara River from the Serengeti National Park to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. The river crossing is a dramatic and perilous event, as the animals must navigate through crocodile-infested waters and brave steep banks on either side. Kogatende is one of the few places where visitors can witness this incredible natural phenomenon, making it a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

You'll spend the night at a lodge or campsite near the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 4: Northern part of Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we'll start our game drive around the Kogatende area, searching around the kopjes looking for carnivores and the large migration groups that will be preparing to cross the Mara River into Kenya.

Home to large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, the Mara River is the last major obstacle standing between the Wildebeest Migration and the relative safety of the Masai Mara. If you're patient and a little lucky, you may even get to witness the death-defying crossing itself where wildebeest and zebras brave the river's currents and crocodiles in an attempt to reach safety on the opposite bank.

Dinner and overnight in the heart of the Serengeti National Park according to the standard and the type of accommodation requested from our options.

After breakfast, we get right on the road back towards the Ngorongoro Crater National Park.

Our drive takes us back through the Serengeti via a different route, offering plenty of opportunities to spot the animals that eluded you on day two. As far as the eye can see, you’ll spot thousands upon thousands of animals in herds; wildebeests and zebras migrating together, tall and graceful giraffes, jumping antelopes and gazelles, the powerful African elephant and the most respected group of animals: the predators.

You will have the chance to spot lean cheetahs and shy leopards, foraging hyenas, and last but not least, the king himself; the lion.

Dinner and overnight on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater or in nearby Karatu Town according to the standard and the type of accommodation requested from our options.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we get right on the road back towards the Ngorongoro Crater National Park.

After breakfast, you'll depart for Ngorongoro Crater; considered by some to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. When you get your first glimpse of this vast, verdant caldera from the panoramic viewpoint, you'll soon understand why it has earned such a lofty reputation.

Home to over 120 species of mammal including the fabled Big Five, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought after safari destinations in the world. It's a particularly good place to see the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a lonely meal out on the grass plains, as well as a place to see large numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water.

From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, you'll be able to observe and photograph some of Africa's most recognisable faces. The crater is home to a large number of predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and more. It is truly one of Africa's premier safari destinations.

You will have a picnic lunch by the park's famous hippo pool before returning to Arusha.
