1 Day Safari to Arusha

Arusha National Park was Ngurdoto Crater Highland National Park until 1967. The current national park covers an area of 137 sq km/53 sq mi, and is located near the town of Arusha between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

The park and town derive their name from the Wa-Arusha people who traditionally live in this area. On this one-day excursion leaving from Arusha, Moshi or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) you will get to know the Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, highland montane forest, and the rugged Mount Meru (4,565 m/14,977 ft).

The park has a wealth of wildlife including Colobus Monkeys, velvet monkeys, bushbucks, buffalos, red forest duikers, hippos, elephants, and giraffes. Birdlife, especially waterfowl, is abundant and interesting.

Day 1: Arusha National Park

After breakfast, you'll depart from your hotel for Arusha National Park.

This is the most accessible park in more than one ways, in just 45 minutes drive from Arusha you reach the entrance gate for paperwork which leads into shadowy montane forest inhabited inquisitive blue monkeys and colorful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern circuit where you can easily see the acrobatic black –and-white colobus monkey.

In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurudoto crater, whose steep, rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog. Other wild animal you can have chance to see are hippos, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, waterbucks, and bushbucks, although more interesting sightings such as reedbucks, leopards and hyenas are much more occasional.

Arusha National Park is ideal for walking and canoeing safaris – putting you closer to the wild than anywhere else in the country.

Extra activities attract extra price, kindly discuss this in detail with our representative
