Why these windows appear

Season gives the route a purpose.

These broad windows help with planning, but nature does not follow a fixed timetable. The route and exact dates should always be reviewed against current conditions.

Aug–Sep

Mara River migration window

Plan time in the northern Serengeti while the herds are typically in the wider Mara ecosystem. Crossings are never guaranteed.

Late Jan–Feb

Southern Serengeti calving

Ndutu and the southern plains are often important for newborn wildlife and predator activity, depending on rainfall and grazing.

Jun–Oct

Classic dry-season circuit

Drier conditions can concentrate wildlife around water and make viewing more predictable across the Northern Circuit.

Choose the right travel style

A shared safari works beautifully—when the fit is right.

Group travel offers companionship and shared logistics. A private journey offers more control over dates, pace, rooms and daily priorities.

Group departure may suit you

  • You enjoy meeting other travelers.
  • You can travel on a fixed date.
  • You are comfortable sharing the safari vehicle.
  • You prefer shared logistics and a planned pace.

Consider a private journey

  • Your dates or pace need flexibility.
  • You have young children or specific mobility needs.
  • Photography time is a major priority.
  • You want particular rooms, lodges or special interests.

Group departure questions

Are every date and place shown here confirmed?

Confirmed departures come from the live package database. When none are published, this page displays clearly labeled seasonal planning dates that must be checked with our team before booking.

Does sending a join request confirm or charge a booking?

No. A request only asks us to check space and prepare the final itinerary and quote. We do not take payment through this form.

Why is the price confirmed after I enquire?

The final per-person price depends on confirmed group size, accommodation, season, room arrangement and current availability. We send a clear quote before any commitment.

Can solo travelers join?

Yes. Solo travelers can request a place. We will explain room-sharing choices and any single-room supplement before confirmation.

Are wildlife sightings or river crossings guaranteed?

No. Seasonal timing improves planning around typical patterns, but rainfall and wildlife movements vary. No specific sighting or Mara River crossing can be guaranteed.

Can this itinerary be arranged privately?

Usually, yes. We can adapt the same journey around your dates, pacing, accommodation and interests as a private safari.

Not sure which date fits?

Start with your month, group size and travel style.

Our Arusha team will compare the available group options with a private alternative and explain the trade-offs clearly.
