6-Day Ndutu Calving Safari Adventure

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and begin your Tanzanian adventure with a warm welcome from your guide. You'll transfer to Arusha, a bustling town at the base of Mount Meru, where you can relax after your journey.

Settle into your lodge surrounded by lush gardens or cityscape views, depending on your preference. Enjoy dinner, meet your safari guide for a briefing, and rest up for the thrilling days ahead.

After breakfast, begin your drive through the scenic highlands and into the Southern Serengeti ecosystem. The destination: Ndutu, the epicenter of wildebeest calving activity.

Arrive in time for a golden-hour game drive across the short grass plains, where you’ll encounter herds of wildebeest, zebras, and the first signs of new life. The air buzzes with activity — from newborn calves to opportunistic predators.

Wake up to the sounds of the wild and prepare for a full-day safari in the calving grounds. During January–March, over 8,000 wildebeest are born each day in Ndutu, offering a front-row seat to one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles.

Your experienced guide will position you near active birthing herds and alert you to predator movements. Expect close encounters with cheetahs, lions, jackals, and hyenas amid the open plains.

Enjoy another full day of exploration. Today focuses on predator-prey interaction. Track lion prides, cheetahs on the hunt, and hyena clans prowling through the marshes and woodlands.

Your guide may also take you off the main tracks for a more exclusive experience. You’ll stop for a scenic picnic lunch under a flat-topped acacia tree — surrounded by the vast Serengeti sky.

After a morning game drive in Ndutu, journey north toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. Pass Maasai villages and stop for stunning views of the crater rim.

Depending on availability, you’ll overnight either on the crater’s edge or in the peaceful farming town of Karatu. Both offer cool air, lush greenery, and panoramic views.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before returning to Arusha via the scenic highlands. Stop at local markets or curio shops if time allows.

You’ll be dropped off at either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for onward flights. Optional Zanzibar extensions available — trade the savannah for the sand in just a short flight.
