Jozani Forest, a protected reserve located 35 km southeast of Zanzibar City—nestled between Chwaka Bay and Uzi Bay—is Unguja’s last remaining natural forest. Spanning 10 square kilometers, it is home to centuries-old trees and a remarkable array of wildlife: the endemic Red Colobus monkey, the elusive Zanzibar leopard, blue monkeys, chameleons, mongooses, bush babies, tree hyraxes, bush pigs, civets, and two tiny antelopes found only on Zanzibar—the Zanzibar duiker and the suni.
