Maasai Mara - N.Serengeti - Kogatende

Your Kenyan safari ends at the Isebania border, where a Tanzanian guide meets you for a scenic drive into the northern Serengeti, arriving in Kogatende for dinner and overnight. Kogatende is a prime Great Migration viewing area—especially in August, when thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River under crocodile, lion, and hyena watch.
Throughout the year, you’ll find high concentrations of elephants, big cats, and antelopes. August’s dry season brings clear skies and cooler mornings, making wildlife gatherings at water sources easier to observe. Plan early-morning and late-afternoon drives, be patient at river crossings, and explore areas away from the main crossings to avoid crowds and spot additional predators.

Kogatende also supports lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of raptors and storks.

After a midday lunch in the bush or camp, embark on a 4–5-hour drive toward Central Serengeti. The landscape shifts from riverine woodland to the open grasslands of Seronera Valley, where elephants, giraffes, zebras, and big cats gather near iconic kopjes. Arrive in the evening, settle into your lodge, and enjoy dinner under the stars before resting for tomorrow’s exploration.

01

January – March

Calving season unfolds across the lush southern Serengeti. Over 500,000 newborn wildebeest are delivered, attracting predators and offering thrilling game viewing.

02

April – June

As the rains give way to golden grasslands, the herds begin their movement northwest, creating picturesque scenes across the Western Corridor.

03

July – September

This is the most dramatic period, as the herds cross the crocodile-infested Mara River. Ideal for witnessing high-stakes survival and iconic wildlife moments.

04

October – December

The herds make their journey south once more, passing through the central and eastern Serengeti in a quieter, more exclusive safari window.
